Happy Talk

Happy Talk

July 29, 2015.
Thanks to the members who joined the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce for a live TV shoot to kick off the Rally for Our Kids Backpack project. Doug, Susan, Danni, Dusty, Shashi, Peggy and, of course, our very own Tony Howard. Miss anyone? Let me know. Thanks to Susan for reminding me that Nancy Pav was not only there for the TV shoot, but did a lot of the heavy lifting for the event. And, Bill Schmidt also joined the others for the TV shoot. Mea Culpa. Kudos to all!

July 30, 2015.
Thanks to our guests, Sergey Peterson (guest of Jeff Perry) and Awais Paracha (Interact club scholarship winner ) as well as Janet Platenberg (Principal) and the Parent Teacher liaison from Steuart Weller Elementary School who helped 22 club members pack 35 backpacks during our Club Service Meeting.
And thanks to the members who applied for and obtained the District Grant to fund the backpacks. Kudos.

August 6, 2015.
Whoa! There was a lot of Happiness at the meeting today. First of all, we were happy to have Jim Gates, our Honorary Member and the ADG for the Loudoun Area of District 7610 with us. Catherine Read from the Centreville Club joined us and brought a prospective Ashburn club member, Wael Youssef with her. And Doug sponsored a guest for the second time who is interested in membership. Thanks, Doug and we look forward to getting to know Vikas Garg better.
Bear with me now. If I miss anyone or anything important to you, just let me know and I will fix it.
Shawn thanked everyone for the support while he and Ashley were both recovering from medical issues. He threatened to go away for the next two months to make up for not having a summer.
Nancy celebrated her favorite Vet--her dad.  One of those bittersweet moments.
Justina and Adam had low key celebrations of their shared birthdays and anniversary last week. First birthdays and anniversary with Miss Cora!
Salim was able to join us and was glad to be going on vacation next week and that his son is learning to snorkel and will be going to first grade in the fall.
Linda welcomed Lynde back after a long hiatus and thanked her for her significant commitment to Youth Exchange.
Lynde filled us in on her trip with the RYE group to Europe last month and a quick review of happenings with Youth Exchange. She also reminded us that UN Day is coming up first Saturday in November and urged us to consider going to NYC for the day with the Youth.
I think I got it all...if not, let me know!
