On October 25th, members of the Rotary Club of Ashburn joined family and friends for what many members hope becomes a signature fundraising event, the Bowl-a-Thon.  The club participated in the District 7610 effort to raise money for the Polio Plus Project and "by all accounts, the event was a great success and a lot of fun," said Jodi Daniel, membership chair.  Transmission of the poliovirus has been stopped in all but three countries – Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Pakistan – and the virus is being contained within increasingly smaller geographic areas within those countries.

The event was held at King Pinz Luxury Lanes & Sports Grill in Leesburg, a valued business partner in the community.  The enthusiastic crowd bowled in teams and raised money through per pin and flat amount pledges. With almost seventy participants turning out for the Bowl-a-Thon, the event raised awareness in the community of both the Polio Plus Project and the Rotary Club of Ashburn.  If you're still interested in donating, contact Mike Kipp at 703 858-3614.  Checks should be made payable to "Rotary Club of Ashburn VA Foundation".

Through pledges, the 50/50 drawing, and prize raffles, the club has raised over $4,500 to date.
