Kathy Davin, a reading specialist at Key Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia and International Project chair for the Greater Washington Reading Council (GWRC) and the Virginia State Reading Association (VSRA) will join the Rotary Club of Ashburn, Virginia to discuss literacy.  For the past 12 years, Ms. Davin has been the literacy coordinator for an education program in the Ixil region of Guatemala.  This exciting program assists local teachers and promotes literacy instruction in an area that was devastated during a 30-year civil war.  The project includes developing materials for beginning readers in their indigenous home language and later transitioning them to Spanish language instruction.
