Learn about Loudoun Museum 
Liz Whiting, President, Loudoun Museum Board of Trustees
Alana Blumenthal, Curator/Collections Manager and Director of Administration, Loudoun Museum
 
 
Ms. Blumenthal will address the breadth and depth of the Loudoun Museum’s collections and research library, highlighting how artifacts help tell the stories of Loudoun County and its inhabitants. (e.g., slave rebellion-Virginia law requiring freed slaves to leave within 12 months-Lucas-Heaton letters:  the emancipation and American Colonization Society.  Leesburg dog money-printed in the window between secession and joining the Confederacy.  USS Alabama breastplate-Billy Mitchell and the invention of modern naval air power.)  Ms. Blumenthal will also review Loudoun Museum programs (1st Fridays, scouts) and recent initiatives (off-site exhibits, website capabilities).
