Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum, 19 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA

Executive Director Mary Braun is the driving force leading the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum into the future.  Mary joined the museum after serving in the tidewater area as the Director of Boyden Gallery and Fine Art Collection of St. Mary’s College of Maryland. She is excited to be in Winchester and ready to explore and meet the needs of the donors, friends, and community members who support the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum. Formed in October 1993, the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum formed in October 1993 was established to address a need in the Northern Shenandoah Valley region for expanded science and cultural opportunities beyond traditional concepts of classroom curriculum. Thus, the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum provides the City of Winchester, Frederick County, and the greater Shenandoah Valley area with its first user-friendly, hands-on, interactive center for informal education.

President's Message
Kenneth Courter
Dear Rotarians,

We have a Board of Directors’s meeting this Friday, January 12th at 4 pm. You are welcome to attend and hear more about plans for 2018.

The following links to a positive story about the work we accomplished with the Salvation Army: http://loudounnow.com/2018/01/05/thank-you-from-the-salvation-army/
I hope we continue this, once again, in December 2018. The Toy Drive they sponsored was remarkable and full of spirit.

Signup today to attend the January 21st Brewer’s Brunch at Old Ox. Coats, gloves, hats and scarves will be collected to help residents with Good Shepard Alliance.

The Four-Way Test

The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:

Of the things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
