President's Message
Kenneth Courter
Good Day,
This week we will hear from two seventh graders on a project to help children in Lee County, VA.  The Algebra I students at Eagle Ridge have taken on a project to supply computers to students in Lee County, VA. This is the poorest county in the Commonwealth.  They are looking to the community to help with this service project.  The students will be presenting the needs for those in Virginia who experience the hardship and difficulty of learning without resources.  I’m sure you’ll enjoy this talk and discovering how you may help these students with this exciting project.
The holidays are upon us.  Grab a bell and start ringing in the spirit for the Salvation Army.  You should have received a Signup Genius for this December 9th hands on charity work.  Our Holiday Season Party in December 14th at Blackfin Ameripub at Loudoun Station on December 14th.
Thank you for the contributions you made for the citizens of the Virgin Islands.  We hit our goal and donated $1,000.  The other clubs in Loudoun also work together to make the total contributed of $10,000.  Nice to see how we can step up and help others in time of need.
We are sponsoring a Toy Drive with It Takes A Village Baby.  Gifts should be brought to the December 7th meeting.  To help you with a shopping list you will receive a Signup Genius to pick and choose for the kids served by ITAVB.  This will also be the meeting with the Rotary Governor visits our club.  Plan now to attend and show her our works.  We will have videos and photos of this past year to demonstrate our work in Ashburn.
Don’t forget the elections are on November 30th.  Have you volunteered to serve?  This helps our Club to excel.
On November 16th Walter Hughes of Rocky Mount, VA will be attending to discuss our Water Project in Africa.
See you Thursday.
Ken, President, Rotary Club of Ashburn, VA

Rotary:  Making a Difference

The Four-Way Test

The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:

Of the things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Rotary International News and Events

Rotary International is assisting victims of the recent national disasters.  If you are looking for a way to help...

NOVEMBER 28, 2017 IS GIVING TUESDAY -- Making a contribution to The Rotary Foundation is an excellent way to give back this year -- your contributions help eradicate polio, promote peace and conflict resolution, support education, prevent disease, and end hunger!  So, while preparing your lists this year, be sure to set aside a little something for The Rotary Foundation!  Together, a little goes a long way!
