District 7610 News and Events

Rotary International News and Events

NOVEMBER 28, 2017 IS GIVING TUESDAY -- Making a contribution to The Rotary Foundation is an excellent way to give back this year -- your contributions help eradicate polio, promote peace and conflict resolution, support education, prevent disease, and end hunger!  So, while preparing your lists this year, be sure to set aside a little something for The Rotary Foundation!

D7610 is matching points for all donations of $100 more done on line.

Go to to make your contribution.

Together, a little goes a long way!

President's Message
Kenneth Courter
Dear Fellow Rotarians,
I am pleased to welcome Chuck Birdie, Interim Executive Director for the Loudoun Free Clinic as our guest speaker this week.  Chuck will be on hand to share his work with the clinic.  I hope you will be able to join us to learn more about the invaluable work this Loudoun-based charity is doing for the disadvantaged.
This Thursday, November 30, is our club’s annual election.  Copies of the official ballots have been disseminated via email to all members.  If you are unable to attend the weekly meeting on Thursday, but would still like to cast your ballot, please complete the ballot and return to me no later than Wednesday November 29. You can make a significant contribution by becoming a Rotary leader.  Please cast your ballot and return or cast your ballot at the luncheon on Thursday.  Only one vote per member.
On December 7, District Governor Ronnie Chantker will join us for a special Board Meeting and Club Meeting. The Board Meeting will be held at 11 am prior to the luncheon at 1757.   This is our chance to meet with our District Governor and discuss the ongoing plans for the current Rotary year.  Following the special board meeting, we will celebrate the Toy Drive, which is now underway. I hope you have told your family and friends about this exciting project designed to help disadvantaged children and mothers. Please be in attendance for this charitable work.
Salvation Army.  I am pleased to announce that we have hit our goal to support this charity with bell ringers at two area Giants on December 16th.
ITAVB Volunteer.  You each received a Signup from It Takes a Village Baby to volunteer on December 8th, 9th and 10th.  Please wear your hats, antlers and sweaters to show the season spirit. You will see first-hand the kindness and generosity in Loudoun.
Water Project.  Join the committee and make a difference in Africa. Interact has already promised to participate.

Holiday Party is scheduled for December 14th at noon.  Larry D. Has asked me to remind you to share a White Elephant gift.  Blackfinn is hosting the festivities. Come and celebrate the last meeting of the year.

Happy Holidays,

Ken, President, Rotary Club of Ashburn, VA

We need everyone's support in order to make sure these childern have toys this holiday season. Check out the Amazon wish list below to make ordering easier, but please feel free to purchase any toy. We will also accept used toys in new condition. Please bring your toy donations to the Rotary meeting on December 7th.

Toys purchased off the wishlist will ship directly to Ken Courter’s house so don’t worry about transporting the toys. More toys will be added to the list as needed.

For used toys, here are some guidelines:

  • Please only donate toys in very good used condition.
  • All pieces should be bagged together. For example, if you have a large toy ship that has pieces, please bag the smaller pieces up and attach to the large ship.
  • Puzzles should have all pieces and be either saran wrapped or zip lock bagged so no pieces are lost.
  • All battery operated toys need to be tested and with working batteries.
  • Books should be in excellent condition.
  • Please, no Happy Meal or other throw-away type toys.

The Four-Way Test

The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:

Of the things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
