President's Message
Jimmy Olevson

Dear Rotarians,

As I begin my term as the club's president I'd like to thank Jimmy and the board for their tremendous work this past year.  We are in great shape - membership is growing and our reputation is well known throughout Rotary.  My term this next year will build on these successes but I need your help.

I look forward to learning from you how our club can be even more engaged in the community. Let's explore new volunteer opportunities both here in Ashburn and abroad. Your ideas and your enthusiasm will make our club stronger.

I know you share my desire to welcome new members and new ideas.  Our growth will continue as long as we embrace a culture of innovation and inclusiveness.  Those that served before us were leaders in their own time and now it's our turn.

If you ever have any questions or concern I hope you will contact me.  I look forward to a productive and fun filled year.

Many thanks,

Palak Shah and Areej Khan to Speak
The Rotary Club of Ashburn, VA is pleased to welcome Palak Shah and Areej Khan as our special guest speakers for Thursday, June 15.

Palak and Areej are two rising college freshmen who have created an organization which collects donations and creates feminine hygiene kits for homeless women with those donations. We chose to highlight this issue because the stigma surrounding this topic prevents people from talking about it, which prevents them from donating/knowing to donate these highly demanded products.

Palak Shah is 18 and has graduated from John Champe High School and will continue her education at Virginia Commonwealth University to study Biochemistry.

Areej Khan is 17 and has graduated from John Champe High School and will be attending Virginia Tech in the Fall to study Neuroscience.
