President's Message
Kenneth Courter

Good Day,

Last week's speaker certainly hit us with the reality of drug use and alcoholism in the Loudoun. We need a fourth judge in conjunction with a Drug Court. The cycle of crime needs to slow and allow us time to confront this scourge on our society.

This week we have another great program.  Brian McGuinness is with JK Moving. I'm sure he will share how they grew into a market leader. Their charity work is recognized as a leader in philanthropy.  Hope to see you on Thursday!

Please write and tell me anything on your mind.  We all can learn from one another.

Rotary:  Making a Difference

JK Moving Vice President McGuinness to Speak
The Rotary Club of Ashburn, VA is pleased to welcome Brian McGuinness, Vice President, Sales and Business Development for JK Moving.  A leader in the moving and storage industry, Brian will share his personal and professional experience in giving back to the community.
As Vice President, Sales and Business Development, Brian believes his past career experiences are what brought him to join JK in 2008. Proud of his distinguished military career in the United States Army, Brian developed operational procedures for the transportation of troops and mission-essential military equipment for combat operations.  Additionally, his experience as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the North American Housing Corporation provided Brian with a terrific basis to understand the moving and storage industry, of which JK is a clear leader.
Brian is committed to customer satisfaction, accurate estimates, and building relationships with partners, as a way to bring additional value to JK’s customers. His personal work philosophy is to lead by example, and produce unexpected results through positive reinforcement within his team.
Brian is an active member of several key industry groups, including the VA/MD Association of Home Builders, the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors, the American Moving & Storage Association, the board of directors of the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, and Loudoun Youth Inc.
Away from the office, Brian enjoys volunteer work with youth groups; coaching wrestling, boxing, and lacrosse. Brian believes this service works ties directly to why he enjoys working for JK—the company is deeply committed to making a difference by giving back to families and organizations in the community.
World Polio Day Scheduled
More than one million Rotary members have donated their time and personal resources to end polio. Every year, hundreds of Rotary members work side-by-side with health workers to vaccinate children in polio-affected countries. Rotary Members work with UNICEF and other partners to prepare and distribute mass communication tools to reach people in areas isolated by conflict, geography, or poverty. Rotary members also recruit fellow volunteers, assist with transporting the vaccine, and provide other logistical support.  Remember, we are this close to ending Polio.  To learn more on what you can do to help
The Four-Way Test

The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:

Of the things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
