District 7610 News and Events

Rotary International News and Events

December is Disease Prevention and Treatment Month.  Disease does not prevent itself. Rotarians educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases. Rotary members have hundreds of health projects underway around the world at any given time.

For example, The Rotary Foundation is changing the world by providing grants for projects and activities around the globe and in your own backyard. $65 Million in grants was given by Rotary to fight disease. Ninety-nine percent reduction in polio cases since our program commenced in 1985.  Rotarians are making a difference throughout the world.

THE FOUR-WAY TEST

The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:

Of the things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

President's Message
Kenneth Courter
Good Day,

This Thursday is when the District Governor, Ronnie Chantker, visits our Club.  Please attend and learn what's new in District 7610 and Rotary International.  In conjunction with her attendance we will have our Toy Drive for It Takes a Village Baby!  On Thursday please deliver toys you may have collected from friends and families.  A Board of Director’s meeting is planned prior to the luncheon in the 1757 Boardroom at 11 am.

Volunteers are needed to stack the toys that morning.  Afterwards we need to remove and transport to ITAVB.  Are you free?

On the weekend we need to step up and volunteer for the actual toy drive at Cascades Library.  You received a sign up list for hours on Friday through Monday.  We expect 150 children to attend.  In addition to Toys we will be handing out diapers to moms.  Let’s all participate and lend a hand in this major community outreach charity work.  This is the last project for 2017.

December 14th is the Holiday Party and white elephant gift exchange.  Please have a $20 gift for a fellow Rotarian.  Blackfin has promised to put out a festive spread and make the season right.  Do you know how to sing?  We may need you to carry a tune or two that day.  This might make for some great video.

See you Thursday,

Ken

https://smile.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/31T7OMN5Q56UG?&sort=default

Toys purchased off the wishlist will ship directly to Ken Courter’s house so don’t worry about transporting the toys. More toys will be added to the list as needed.

For used toys, here are some guidelines:

  • Please only donate toys in very good used condition.
  • All pieces should be bagged together. For example, if you have a large toy ship that has pieces, please bag the smaller pieces up and attach to the large ship.
  • Puzzles should have all pieces and be either saran wrapped or zip lock bagged so no pieces are lost.
  • All battery operated toys need to be tested and with working batteries.
  • Books should be in excellent condition.
  • Please, no Happy Meal or other throw-away type toys.
