Megan S. Belden to Speak
Megan S. Belden is the Deputy Director of Programs at Legal Services of Northern Virginia, the largest legal aid organization in Northern Virginia. LSNV provides free legal services to thousands of people who have low income, disabilities, or who are elderly in the areas of consumer law, elder law, family law, housing law, public benefits, child advocacy and education law. LSNV has offices throughout Northern Virginia, including one in Leesburg.
Before joining LSNV as a staff attorney practicing family law in 2013, Ms. Belden was a staff attorney at Break the Cycle in Washington, D.C. At BTC, she represented teen and young adult survivors of dating violence in protective order cases, as well as divorces, child custody, and child support matters. From 2010 to 2011, Ms. Belden was the Legal Coordinator at DC SAFE, a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring the safety and self-determination of domestic violence survivors in Washington, D.C. through emergency services, court advocacy and system reform. Ms. Belden also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Nancy Sivilli, in the New Jersey Superior.
Ms. Belden received her juris doctorate from Western New England University, School of Law, cum laude, in 2008 and a bachelor of arts in political science from Eastern University, cum laude, in 2005.
